We treat the entire caseback as a design canvas, and our engraving process captures very fine detail: intricate linework, handwriting nuances, crests, coordinates, and logos (with permission). The result goes far beyond a few typed lines. It's a keepsake in metal. Every modern Hampden can be personalized this way, guided by our complimentary Design Concierge service. ## What you can engrave Because we engrave the full caseback, you can choose something minimalist or something highly detailed, including high-resolution artwork and deep precision engraving. - **Text and typography:** initials, names, dates, or meaningful quotes. - **Handwriting and signatures:** replicated from a photo, in your own script or a loved one's note. You can upload photos, handwriting samples, sketches, or logos. Or simply describe your idea and we'll create options for you to review. If you aren't sure what you want yet, our team can help you brainstorm and design from scratch. 4. **Approve your digital proof.** We'll send a digital preview for your feedback and approval before engraving begins. 5. **Production begins.** Once approved, your design is engraved in our Chicago workshop, where every caseback is individually engraved, inspected, and finished by hand. You'll receive shipping and delivery updates by email. ## Turnaround Personalization runs on two intervals, and it's worth knowing both rather than only the total. 1. **Proof: three to five business days**, counted from the day your material reaches us. Our team prepares a detailed digital preview for your review. 2. **Production: ten business days**, counted from the day you approve the proof. Engraving then begins in our Chicago workshop. That comes to roughly 13 to 15 business days from submission to shipment, with shipping time on top. The second interval is the one people misread. Production isn't counted from the day you order or the day you email your design. The clock starts at approval, so time spent choosing between concepts is added to the end rather than absorbed along the way. Approving promptly is the single thing that most shortens the wait. Some designs need extra time. Please allow additional days if your engraving includes highly detailed artwork or illustrations, multi-element layouts or logo compositions, or extended correspondence and multiple proof revisions. Your Design Concierge will always share an updated estimate if your project is more complex. We can't guarantee expedited engraving on every project, but we'll do our best to accommodate timing whenever possible. ## What to bring or email To schedule your complimentary consultation, complete your watch purchase and follow the booking link in your confirmation email. Your session can be as simple or as creative as you like. Helpful starting points: - A short message, initials, or a date you'd like engraved. - Any photos, sketches, handwriting samples, crests, or logos. - Or just an idea, and our designers will visualize it for you. You can complete the entire process by email. ## Cost and revisions Caseback engraving and your Design Concierge session are included with every modern Hampden watch, at no extra cost. You'll review and approve a digital proof before engraving begins, and two rounds of revisions are included before further changes become chargeable. Once production starts, no further changes can be made. Approval is also what fixes responsibility for the finished piece. An error that was present in the proof you approved is yours, since that's the design we cut. An error introduced against the approved proof is ours, and we remake the watch at no charge.
