My watch stopped working. What do I do?
Write to hello@hampdenwatch.com and tell us what the watch is doing, when it started, and which watch it is. We reply within one to two business days, and for the watches we service ourselves we send a prepaid shipping label, so there's nothing to pay to get it to us and nothing to pay to get it back.
You don't need to bring it in. Repairs are handled by post, and the label covers the journey both ways.
One thing worth trying first
If yours is an automatic and it has been sitting unworn for a few days, it may simply have run down rather than failed. Give the crown a wind, set the time, and wear it for a day before doing anything else. How do I wind my automatic watch explains how far to wind and when to stop.
If you wind it and nothing happens, that's the point to write in. It's a real fault and it isn't something you can fix from your side.
Where your watch goes
What's covered is handled in-house. What isn't is referred out.
Modern Hampden watches and First Hand workshop watches are serviced at the Chicago headquarters by our own watchmakers. That's the route the prepaid label belongs to, and shipping is covered in both directions.
Union watches, custom logo watches and vintage Hampdens are referred to Times Ticking, our service partner for watches we no longer service directly. Write to us first if you're not sure which category yours falls into, and we'll tell you. How do I get a vintage Hampden repaired has the full process for sending one to them.
How your warranty fits in
Coverage follows the same four tiers as the service routing. Modern Hampden watches from 2025 forward carry a 5-year limited warranty. First Hand workshop watches carry a 2-year limited warranty. Union and custom logo watches were made under a 1-year limited warranty. Vintage and legacy Hampdens are not covered by any Hampden warranty.
In every tier, what's covered is defects in materials and workmanship under normal use, dated from the original purchase. What does the warranty cover sets out the exclusions in full, and it's worth reading before you send a watch in so you know what to expect.
If your watch arrived damaged
Write to the same address with your order number and photographs of the watch, the box and the packaging it came in. Send those before you send the watch anywhere, because damage in transit is handled differently from a fault that develops later, and the photographs are what settle it.
